We are seeking a skilled Contracts and Procurement Solicitor to join our dynamic Legal Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of vital public services and contribute to the ongoing success of our local authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of contracts and procurement law to various departments within the local authority.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and procurement documents, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice.
  • Advise on procurement strategy, risk management, and mitigation in line with local government regulations and policies.
  • Represent the local authority in legal proceedings and disputes related to contracts and procurement.
  • Keep abreast of changes in relevant legislation and case law, providing updates and training to staff as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support effective and efficient procurement processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive with a current practicing certificate.
  • Demonstrable experience in contracts and procurement law, ideally within a local authority or public sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of public procurement regulations, contract law, and relevant case law.
  • Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex contracts and provide clear, practical legal advice.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workload and work effectively under pressure.
