How can I get involved with Black History Month?
Every October, we take time to recognise and celebrate the incredible contributions black people have made to our society. This Black History Month, the theme is ‘Reclaiming Narratives’ – marking a significant shift towards recognising and correcting the narratives of Black history and culture.
In this blog, we look at 3 meaningful ways to engage with Black History Month 2024.
- Take part in the 5 Day Challenge
Encourage your colleagues to take part in the 5 Day Challenge designed to help promote better awareness around race equality. Each activity only takes five minutes, meaning you and your team can easily fit it into the working day!
- Listen to a podcast
Another easy way to educate yourself this Black History Month is to listen to podcasts by black creatives and storytellers. Whether you’re off on a run or commuting to work – this a great opportunity to add a few newbies to your listening library!
Here are a few recommendations:
- Improve diversity in the workplace
A bigger, more important step to improving diversity and inclusion is to, well, improve diversity and inclusion! Perhaps your company has nailed the recruitment process and is extremely mindful when it comes to equal representation and opportunities. On the other hand, it’s OK to admit that ‘hey, we could be doing more’ – positive change can only happen after you identify the problem, after all.
Here at Imperium Resourcing, we champion diversity, equality and inclusion and are constantly striving to drive positive change across the interim sector. If you want to talk to one of our consultants, get in touch on 0203 929 4000 today.
